First Glimpse: 2016 Jaguar XJ (facelift)

This week, Jaguar Land Rover of Malaysia finally revealed the facelifted Jaguar XJ, in order to make it fresh and bring the old Jag vibe back again. The pre-facelift did not have that same old feeling. Anyway, at least that JLR made a good decision for this XJ just to make it to feel, maybe I should say, "the good old days that want to go modern type of hipster with the hip-hop swag" since 2009.

This particular XJ is the XJ L, a long-wheelbase variant, with the optional wheels and Odyssey Red paint. In my thoughts, this colour scheme is clearly the right match for the XJ.

New to the facelifted Jaguar XJ is the redesigned front bumper. The air vents under it were reworked to make it way classy. The grille is also looks sharper that before, just like most new Jaguars. The headlamps do get the same shape and accent like the XF, everything is LED with the J-style daytime running lamps across each of them.

Next, the XJ gets a new sets of bling-bling in all four corners. All of them are paired with 20" Kasuga wheels. They are actually optional for the XJ as the normal XJ only gets the 19" wheels.

Behind, there's a new rear bumper. The black glossy finish around the exhaust looks elegant.

There is no power gain whatsoever in the XJ so engine selections were all the same. This one has the EcoBoost 2.0 turbocharged inline-4 engine. You can also get the 3.0 supercharged petrol or an eco-friendly 3.0 turbocharged V6 diesel.

One of the most important feature for the update is the electronics for the interior. As you can see, the instrument panel and the infotainment system has been updated. Now, it features the InControl Touch Pro system, alongside the 12.3" touch display with quad core processor underneath. Damn, no wonder it's so damn smooth to operate compared to other InControl Touch system. It's mind blowing!

Just look at the instrument cluster itself. It looks much better and gorgeous than the plain glass-reflected blue background that was found in the old ones. Bear in mind that it does display the navigation system too, a one off feature for the InControl Touch Pro.

The center console doesn't have any changes except for the 12.3" display. On the other hand, playing with it is much more cooler than before, since it has a quad core processor.

Rear seats were redesigned as well to match the overall silhouette. Other amenities were all the same as before.
